About Perimeter Patrol™
Perimeter Patrol™ provides enhanced server security through port scanning and vulnerability assessment and is a cost option available on all servers.
This service goes hand-in-hand with the Packet Patrol™ managed firewall service which is an important step to protect your server for any security conscious clients.
What is security vulnerability scanning?
Security vulnerability scanning is the process of checking the server regularly for possible routes of entry for a hacker or malcontent. It is analagous to a security guard patrolling a building's perimeter at night and "rattling the latches" to ensure that nothing is left unlocked.
On a more technical level, we combine port scanning with regular vulnerability assessments of the server configuration and software in order to highlight potential areas of exploit. We perform the scans from outside our network in order to make it a "real life" test.
What happens if a vulnerability is found?
If you have already taken our Managed SLA then we would take action to fix the vulnerability and inform you of what we had done. Otherwise, if you are on a Basic or Premium SLA then we would simply inform you of the problem and make a recommendation.
